Menopause Weight Gain? I Lost 20 lbs in my 50s

Several years ago, my doctor told me I needed meds to manage my blood pressure.

I was shocked. How could that be? I'm a yoga teacher after all!

She also said losing weight may help.

That conversation is the reason I lost 20 pounds.

At the time I didn't know that high blood pressure could be a symptom of menopause (declining estrogen can affect your blood pressure), but I wanted to see if losing weight would help.

My goal was to take small steps.

I wasn't trying to lose 10 pounds in two weeks (which I had tried many many many times before going on all kinds of crazy diets and detoxes in my younger days).

I knew this time had to be different, this time had to be a lifestyle change - a new way of eating.

It really didn't have to take two years for me to lose 20 pounds... if I was to do it again I'd definitely do some things differently which I explain in the video.

But my philosophy of small steps remains the same.

And this is the exact same approach I take with all my clients when we work together to create new healthy habits... whether its around weight loss, exercise, stress management or whatever their wellness goals are: small steps, big results.

I made a video walking through exactly what worked (and what didn't) when I was on my weight loss journey.
